It was a sunny, bright, and pleasant day at Mammoth Lake where I had gone for the long weekend with some uncles and aunts. The first day was pretty relaxing, just getting to Mammoth was  long drive.

But, the second day was really fun....it was my first hike!!! I know, I know...you think it's slightly early, but I like to get a head start. :) We decided to hike the trail at Devils Postpile. I got ready, reached the hiking trail in a bus that went down windy roads (made me dizzy), and finally got into my Bjorn to start the hike. It was a 2.5 mile hike each way (total 5 mile hike) to the Rainbow falls and back. I started looking at the different types of trees, leaves and branches and the trodden uneven path as Dad carried me giving me a good aerial view. :)

The trail was steep and often sloping giving me the feeling of truly hiking in the woods, coupled by the fact that we had a river/stream along the trail that added to the beauty. It was great, and am sure Dad was tired, but I enjoyed the way reaching the falls. We were all looking forward to resting....The ultimate prize? Check it out....Rainbow Falls!

A Great Hike at a Great Location...with the ultimate Waterfalls!
